Une nouvelle identité pour le Collège canadien de gestion de l’information sur la santé

London, ONTARIO, September 24, 2020 — The Canadian College of Health Information Management (College) is excited to release its new brand identity today—one that represents integrity and trust. As a national, not-for-profit corporation that sets the accreditation standards for educational institutions and certification standards for health information professionals in Canada, the College requires an identity that Canadians can look to with certainty. The new College identity is a symbol of the knowledge and credibility found throughout the certified health information workforce.

The health information industry requires the work of professionals certified through the College to carefully curate and transform Canadians’ most sensitive data, their health data, into critical information used throughout the health care sector and beyond. Every day, certified health information professionals transform health data into outcomes that matter—outcomes that impact policies, economies, and the quality of care that Canadians receive.

“This past year has been influential in understanding the value of health information professionals. Research was conducted, including with stakeholders, members, and the general public, to inform this new identity for the Canadian College of Health Information Management,” says CEO and Registrar Jeff Nesbitt. “This identity is one that will reinforce trust and the importance of certified health information professionals in the health care sector.”

Health data, and the information it transforms into, has the potential to build a more equitable, more compassionate, and more informed Canada. The College’s new identity is designed to act as a catalyst for conversation with Canadians—a conversation on the importance of their health information.

A renewed relationship between the Canadian College of Health Information Management and CHIMA

Historically, the Canadian College of Health Information Management has shared a voice and an identity with Canada’s health information management association, CHIMA. While these two organizations both work to elevate and support the impact made by certified health information professionals, the College and CHIMA each play different roles.

CHIMA exists to support the professional growth of its members and connect the health information community of professionals, students, and affiliates. The College strives to ensure those who choose to enter the health information industry do so with the appropriate education, understanding, and oversight to ensure Canadians’ health information is handled responsibly, ethically, and professionally.

The College and CHIMA will continue to share resources and operate with the support of one another. Together, these organizations provide the necessary pieces to ensure the health information of Canadians is collected, protected, and used to deliver meaningful outcomes.
