Eligibility
There are three ways to become a Certified Health Information Management (CHIM) professional in Canada:
- Through an HIM program accredited by the Canadian College of Health Information Management
- Through a Health Information Fundamentals program accredited by the Canadian College of Health Information Management, paired with an existing, recognized degree
- Reciprocal agreement:
All pathways require candidates to write the CHIM national certification examination (NCE).

Applications and transcripts will not be reviewed prior to the application deadline.
Request to withdraw
The request to withdraw from an examination must be received in writing by the deadlines stated below. A refund of 100% of the examination fee will be provided. No refund will be provided past these deadlines.
