American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) reciprocal agreement

The Canadian College of Health Information Management has a reciprocal agreement with the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). This agreement allows AHIMA’s Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) designation holders to apply to write the College’s CHIM national certification examination (NCE).

Eligibility

In order to be eligible under the AHIMA reciprocal agreement, the College requires proof of the following:

1. Proof of active RHIT or RHIA certification with AHIMA

Application process

Step 1

Hold an active affiliate membership with the Canadian Health Information Management Association.

Step 2

Review the Canadian College of Health Information Management’s CHIM NCE guide and follow the steps provided.
