Eligibility

A candidate must be a graduate of an HIM program accredited by the Canadian College of Health Information Management, hold an active CHIM professional designation, and fall into one of the following categories:

  1. Experienced professional: Be currently working in the field of classification and coding with 5 or more years of experience in acute inpatient coding; or
  2. Course graduate: Be a graduate from a preparatory classification and coding specialist program that is recognized by the Canadian College of Health Information Management.

* An examination period may be extended to provide more date options to candidates based on the volume of applications the College receives. Additional dates and times will be added as required.

Request to withdraw

The request to withdraw from an examination must be received in writing by the deadlines stated below. A refund of 100% of the examination fee will be provided. No refund will be provided past these deadlines.
