Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for the Entry-to-Practice (E2P) Medical Coding national micro-credential examination (NME), candidates must meet all of the below criteria:

  • have graduated from an accredited Health Information Management diploma and degree program that have confirmed their curriculum teaches the micro-credential learning outcomes; and
  • received their CHIM certification.

The College is offering an early adopter rate to celebrate the launch of this new certification.

* An examination period may be extended to provide more date options to candidates based on the volume of applications the College receives. Additional dates and times will be added as required.

Request to defer or withdraw

Deferral: A candidate may defer their application to a future sitting of the NME. The applicant is required to notify the exam team through a deferral request at least 10 business days before exam sitting. Please note that an application can only be deferred a total of three times.

Withdrawal: The request to withdraw from an examination must be received in writing by the deadlines stated below. A refund of 100% of the examination fee will be provided. No refund will be provided past these deadlines.
